...and if you don't why not? Not to sound arrogant, but if you have any skill at thinking, it's very simple to come up with a "Long Tail" phrase to get you ranked #1 in Google for it. I'm not talking about doing a search with quotes ("") around your phrase, or the name of your company. Take this site as an example. I only 3 weeks ago wrote "Domaining is Not a Dirty Word", and it's been number 1 in Google two days after I posted it. As of this writing (4.4.2008) there are over 1.8 million web documents found when that phrase is entered in the Google search box (no quotes). So your thoughts are, "So what, no one types that in". And on that you are right. But, we are after high rankings in Google for other phrases as well, domaining being one of them. While not officially noted anywhere, Google has a "Halo effect" in the algorithm that helps pull up other keywords and pages of this site because of that ranking. Since Google knows that ranksurge.com has a #1 listing, that tells the Google algorithm that this site must have *something* worthwhile since it *earned* a number one ranking. So the next time you've got someone talking about how impossible it is to get a top ranking in Google, now you now a little "trick" to get a relevant phrase ranked #1 in Google, and make your self that closer to that of an sem expert.
